Title: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file

Running in ubunu 12.10; after linking the first tutorial program, i get this when i actually try to execute the binary. I assume it has to do with my $PATH, but libgl.so.1 is everywhere i could want it to be. What am I doing wrong?
