It would be really nice if the background in the tutorial and documentation pages were not pure white, but instead a bit grey.
Reading the documentation in a dark room with a bright monitor really hurts my eyes on the sfml site.
Usually I use "redshift" (http://lifehacker.com/5567172/redshift-makes-your-screen-easier-on-the-eyes-at-night (http://lifehacker.com/5567172/redshift-makes-your-screen-easier-on-the-eyes-at-night)) to ease the pain, but the sfml site still stands out as painful late at night.

White is a perfectly acceptable background for text (especially black text). If your monitor is displaying whites that are too bright for you, you should set up your monitor. Try warm tones ;)

If pure white is too bright, you might want to adjust your monitor further. It's also not a good idea to sit in a dark room, instead have some desk light on. :)
But well the only one being able to do anything about it is Laurent, so let's wait for his response. :D

IMO a monitor should be setup to truthfully show all colors and with right gamma. Screwing up the settings just because its fashionable to use white background on most websites feels very wrong.
Though its too widespread nowadays, so just changing one website will not help very much, therefore turning on the light to not sit in a completely dark room is a good idea.
I once read it was possible to supply a local css file for a browser to replace all websites css files for people that cant see well, maybe thats an option for you.
