Hi
After this discussion (http://en.sfml-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=14980.0), I've decided to open the development of SFML to a team composed of the most talented and involved developers in this community (sorry for those I forgot -- the team may grow in the future).
What this means is that I'll no longer be the only one to decide and write code; this was already the case with Nexus, Marco and Jonathan being part of the team, but this was just enough to make SFML survive. These new members (yes, the list is coming) will bring their motivation, ideas and technical skills, and there will be nobody to say "no" to what they propose. Instead, the team will discuss every suggestion and implement it if it meets an agreement.
Development of bug fixes and new features will also be a lot more open to the community, we don't want motivated members to see their contribution rejected most of the time. We need everyone's energy to make SFML the best multimedia library out there.
The team is composed of:
- Nexus
- binary1248
- Tank
- Grimshaw
- eXpl0it3r
- Hiura
- Sonkun
- and myself
In this team I'll be nothing more than a regular member: everyone will get an equal weight on decisions.
I hope you like this major change; in any case you should soon see a difference ;)

Hooray! I hope this turns out as good as it sounds. :D
Just a small request, could you change the forum titles from "SFML team" to "SFML Team"?

Hmm ok, why not :P

Great news ;D
-
Wow this sounds great! :)
I am keen on seeing what may come out of this. probably only good things!
I must say that I had lost my hope there for a while for SFML, when the task list was just growing and growing, and future versions seeming to be years away.
-
Thanks! I am/we are really looking forward to what's going to happen -- hopefully a lot! :)
-
Android port!!! :)
-
This is great, I was a bit afraid when you said that SFML could die. ;)
-
It's nice to see you're all motivated like that! :D
-
Great news. I can't wait to see how this works out :-)
-
That is excellent news! I'm quite happy with the turn of events! Long live SFML!
-
Nice birthday present. :)
Hope this major change is for the best in the long run. In any case, sharing one's power amongst a team is a remarkable event.
Hooray for SFML!!
-
This is very exciting news! Hopefully SFML will become an even better SFML with more frequent updates and fixes, more features and flexibility!
A whole heartedly welcome to the new official SFML Team, and thanks to all the contributors. I hope to become one of you some day.

Wow, this is quite a big change!
I'm pretty hopeful though. Having more people will hopefully mean more things get done and also hopefully much more progress.
Congrats to all the new team members and good luck. :)
-
Great news!
I'm sure SFML will grow faster now :)
-
There seems to be a good spread of expertise in the team. Good luck to all involved.
-
Congrats, good stuff! Looking forward to see what you guys have up your sleeve!
-
Great news! And congrats everyone!
-
Yay ! :)
-
Awesome news!

This is fantastic. In fact, it's encouraging me to get more involved myself. The recent surge of commits (https://github.com/SFML/SFML/graphs/commit-activity) indicates this is a very good thing.

Yes it will be good for us and also the site.

That's a good idea because your concurrant (SDL) is really taking advance.
I've tested (and not only me) several applis with SDL and SFML on different plateforms.
SDL is able to display a window on any system (even on a raspberry pi) with every driver and even with old architectures.
This is not the case of SFML, because of several reasons :
-SFML is using XrandR, the video modes fails to load with Xinemara on linux.
-All extensions of openglES are not always present in the drivers, opengl just get the adress of the functions defined in the driver but if the adress is not present there's a link error, maybe it's due to the missing of glew with opengles.
SDL seems to create the opengl context without any problems, most of all, SDL is opensource so you should take a look into the code. (At least for the dependencies and for the opengl context)

Please don't hijack this thread with your own problems, which already have open discussions on the forum.

Ok. :)

I can't believe no one brought that up before but shouldn't readme.txt be updated to list entire team instead of just Laurent, Hiura and Jonathan?

I can't believe no one brought that up before
I did right after the team was created ;)
The other members can update the readme file whenever they want.

I really can't be bothered. If anybody doesn't believe that I contributed, I can tell them to go RTFCL.
