Title: Fundraiser for a Mac mini

Hello community!

Development for OS X and iOS can be quite tricky because you're required to use Apple hardware to legally and smoothly run OS X. Unfortunately the SFML Team does only have Hiura, our OS X dev, who has regular access to such hardware.
For a long time this has worked just fine, however more recently the follow points have brought us to this fundraiser for a Mac mini:
We're setting the goal to € 600 which allows us to buy a Mac mini with extended warranty and makes sure that after PayPal's cut there's still enough left.
Due to the amount PayPal takes, we recommend a minimum donation amount of € 5.

Well, I guess it's no problem to reach the funding goal. The big question is, how long will it take? :)

I would be great to be able to use SFML freely on every platform, both desktop and mobile. I will donate some in a few days  :)

I could've swore seeing somewhere Laurent saying "Thanks, but no thanks" in regards to donations. Oh well. Goes to show how often I look at SFML's home page. Haha...

You are truly amazing. :) We have already received a lot of donations and will be updating the donation bar in a couple of minutes.

It's actually so much that the goal has been reached already, unbelievable. We decided to add a small stretch goal for a Mac mini with better hardware.

If donations come in even after that goal, we'll save them for later use.

So again, thanks a lot for your contributions, this is crazy. ;)

Got my donation in, better support for the evil lower case i devices is something I would like if I ever get to the point I can publish a game. Out of curiousity, what is the plan for the system? Set it up in one of he developers houses and have remote access available for the various devs? Thanks again for the hard work!

Yes, the device will be setup in my apartment, since I've got the fastest internet speed (see spoiler) and enough time to maintain it.
At first we'll be setting it up as build node for out continuous integration (http://sfml-dev.org:8080/) and provide access to at least all the SFML Team members. After everything is up and running, we'll most likely also be thinking about ways to give back to the community, however so far there are no plans, so I can't make any promises on how that might look like. ;)

We already reached our stretch goal! :)

I'm amazed and we're extremely thankful for anyone who donated!
We'll keep updating the bar up for the whole week. As Tank said everything from now on, will simply be saved and used for future projects.

There is far more interest in SFML than I expected, even if I like it more than most alternatives.

Why not a Hackintosh (Installing OS X on a PC) ? Cheaper, easier, faster :)

If other people in the team need OS X but can't purchase one, just watch over here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/

Beside behind not legal, it ain't easier: a lot of things can go wrong (as I saw in the past) and therefore is useless for a testing machine. Plus we weren't looking for insane speed. And we already bought it. ;)

Why go to the trouble?
You can't be sure it will behave identical to a real mac. You have to worry about license issues (is it legal). What about support?
Just simpler, easier, less worries and ultimately cheaper (considering support, time spent etc) to just get a real mac.

You're absolutely right, using Mac alone is enough of a punishment.
