Title: this looks interesting
Post by: thaithanh.phong on August 13, 2007, 06:38:28 pm
I just happened to know SFML via GameDev.net a few minutes ago.

Although I haven't even tried it, it looks really interesting to me!

I am downloading it. Will give it a try tomorrow.

Welcome to the SFML forums ;)

I hope you'll enjoy SFML, let us know what you think about it. It is even more important as it is the first public release.

I come from GameDev.net too.

I really like everything I've read about SFML so far.

I'll give it a try. ;)

PS: I really love the documentation you have and the tutorials - most projects don't have that.

It's rather amazing the level of activity that comes with a single news post off gamedev -- I came here from their referral as well.

The documentation and website infrastructure displays a surprising level of polish -- it looks off to a good start.  Contrast this with SDL's robust but very sparsely documentation and you've done the right things.   I'm going through the code now -- initial impressions are pretty neat.  The library appears to have covered the bases with the same scope as Allegro and SDL.  I am particularly impressed that the portable platform code is already working.

I found it on GameDev too, couldn't click the link fast enough :-p

It's a shame that it's not compatible with 64-bit Linux (had fun installing a 32-bit with no CD-RW drive on my current machine) but my experience of SFML so far has been nothing short of fantastic, well worth the set-up time I went through.

It should be (although I've never tested it), just have to make 64-bits builds of SFML and release them.

I just found out about SFML this morning, and so far everything is fantastic. I was about to start my first game projekt using SDL but now when I have found SFML, SDL is out of the picture.

The documentation and tutorials are great too.

I've been really impressed with SFML. I'm planning to port my existing SDL project to SFML and start a new SFML project soon. The people on the forum are very helpful too.
