Hi everybody!
(I already put a topic on the french forum but maybe english speakers friends also want to see our work. I'll try to do my best to translate the post here : http://fr.sfml-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=20109.0)I'm not really active on SFML forum but I'm learning a lot with it all days. Mostly thanks to Laurent that answer every useful topics.
I registered on this forum because I want to show you a project we're currently working on with friends. I'm sure you guessed, it's based on SFML and hours of working.
AN OCTONAUT ODYSSEY
The first idea was to create
generative environnement. We plan to create a full procedural game but because of a lack of time we choose a different way and we're glad that we did.
It's a
2D plateformer game in which you are an
old amnesiac octopus. The story is classical for now, the octopus crash his spaceship on an unknown planet. He need to find his compagnons, the octobots, to repair his spaceship and leave this place.
The gameplay is mostly based on your ability to modify the ground. It's a mix of
reflexion, agility and exploration that allows you to move forward in the game. It's a pacifist game where you never kill anybody and only a fall could lead you to death.
It's graphically
colorful and psychedelic, between cute and less cute.
We started this game as a school project and it's a first experience in game creation for everyone. Some of us even learn C++ creating it. We had so much pleasure creating it that we didn't succeed to stop! Our commercials goals are not really clear yet but we are sure that we'll finish the game at least. We want that people can play it when it'll be done and polish.
This is our video to show you how it looks like :
We hope that we'll have a short demo in few months.
