I can only hope that pacman is the slippery computer-controlled bad guy and the ghosts are players who need to coop to catch that yellow bastard!  ;D

Hi Ironbell,

I just realized i never posted it, but i just want to say i'm very impressed with your determination and i'd like to congratulate you on your awesome achievement.
Actually having the endurance / patience and imagination to finish a game like Cendric I think is remarkable and rare (for indies at least  :D).
All the elements that went into design, creation, but also implementing unique mechanics - an RPG no less... Really impressive. Well done!

Your game is deff on my buy-list soon as i have found some spare time to do an indie round (which i'm planning somewhere before summer because ...well just because lol)

I think there's plenty of admiration for these types of projects, but it's not always expressed. Well certainly i'm not used to do so.

Keep it up and good luck! I'm working on a dungeon crawler game myself (not really roguelike), but i fear if i post about it i will likely not finish it lol (happened before).

Love to see your updates though!

Hi Bitano!

Thanks again! May I steal that nice image?   ;)

Sure. It's not mine though. I googled it.

Very nice looking game!

Can i suggest a simple change to get rid of that background image 'tear'? If you mirror the previous version of the image when scrolling up, the background image will appear more natural. I think that's a quick win.  ;D

It looks very nice!

Here's an idea:

The player needs to get to a dropzone using the minimap to determine where to fly to. Once above the dropzone the player must drop a supply crate.
As soon as the supply crate has successfully landed in the dropzone, a new dropzone is generated for the player to fly to.

In the meantime the player is attacked by enemy planes which (s)he can shoot down.

MULTIPLAYER
Both players have to drop off a crate at the same drop zone
When a crate is dropped it slowly falls down due to its parachute. The drop is unsuccessful if the other player shoots down the crate.
The lower you get with your plane, the higher the chance of a successful crate drop, but the easier a target you become (and the harder it is to dodge mountains, etc).
A win goes to the first player to successfully drop the crate. The dropzone disappears and a new dropzone is spawned. 5 wins are required.

Just a bit of inspiration. Upto you whether you want to use it  or not :-)

SFML projects / Re: Let's make 16 classic game in C++ video series

Actually these videos made me try SFML  :) I have a rusty 10-15 years old C background, with 0 C++. Even not clearly remembering pointers etc. Still i am making some progress if i dont suicide next week :)
I know where you're coming from. The same kind of applied to me. So since you're mentioning pointers, i strongly advice you to look into vectors instead. Vectors and maps. Gotta love 'em!

I have a dilemma/question.
I can't decide on whether Faux Car should have a pixelated display or not:
Roll a dice. :)

Or a user setting !!! (it felt like multiple exclamation marks were required for extra emphasis)

Thank you both for your comments and opinions.

bitano, i don't think you've played The impossible game? That's my inspiration for this game, and why i named it like this :), and it's very similar.

You're right!! i didn't. Just checked it. Indeed it's pretty close to finished then.

Not knowing the Impossible Game, i thought the squares were placeholders and it was more a display of mechanics where graphics still needed to be implemented.
Personally i would think a nice background or some subtle textures would spice it up, but that's more flavor (and personal taste).

Well done!

The teapot made me go and make tea. I think there's a hidden message somewhere in the image :S

Change the protagonist square into a little man and you can call the game "Mr XTC" !!! :D

Lol but seriously. It's hard to share thoughts on a game in such an early stage and with little background info on where you want to go with it.
Having said that, i think it's a great start and could become a challenging and fun game with some more complementing elements / challenges / variety in place.

i suggest you change the topic of this thread to "my awesome game", keep that mindset and keep us posted on your progress!!!

I need a way to show the player which units are being targeted.
I'm using a circle, the darker the color, more resistant is the unit for the attack.
A circle highlight works fine, right?

a clear target icon is something like the following:

And then different colours for resistance perhaps...As long as you have a placeholder it can always be improved ofc and i think those kind of improvements are best spotten when ...

...TESTING THE GAME!!!!  :D :D :D

No pressure. Just saying...

Thanks! I considered making a thread a while ago but figured I should get further along before I did. I'll take your post as a sign I've gotten far enough to make one now  ;)
Quoting for some extra emphasis! Clearly you do need your own project thread :D
