General / Help! I need help building the libraries! OSX

So i decided to try to get this going on OSX, Leopard. I have no idea what to do though : (
I tried getting the downloadable libraries to work to no avail. If anyone has any advice here I'd be very happy. I'm running XCode 3.0 on leopard.
So I had to learn about SVN and figure that out. I can now download the entire /src/SFML directory. I'm assuming that this is where I need to do my business.
Now I have no idea where to go from here. I tried using make form Terminal but that isn't working.
I tried dropping the src directory into the downloadable developer kit and openingthe xcodeproj files but that is also not working.
Can anyone give me an idea of how I need to get started?
