We are glad that you like it!

The music was created by friends of us especially for the game. Pierre Glory is composing on cubase (for the one you can listen in the trailer), another part had been composed using guitar and keyboard. If you want to listen the full OST you can here :

Thanks for the support :)

Hi everybody,

We talked about our game on this forum maybe a year ago. We just released it on steam and itch.io so we though giving an update could be a good thing. It's been created with love only using SFML and C++. We keep this post simple and you can find more informations in http://anoctonautodyssey.com/ but if anybody have questions, remarks, we'll be happy to discuss it with all of you :)

(The original post http://en.sfml-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=20115.msg146463#msg146463)

AN OCTONAUT ODYSSEY

In this journey that mixes exploration, logic and platform sections, you are Octo, the amnesiac octopus. You'll discover with him wild planets, inhabited by strange and evolutive flora and fauna. You'll meet quirky characters, and gather robots to help Octo recover his capacities and repair his ship. You'll learn to move around and to evolve in a new and chaotic universe, as well as to avoid the traps that stand in Octo's way to desorient him.

@Sygmei Yes we were at the stunfest. We had good time there :)

@AFS Thank you for your feedback! I'm happy that you enjoyed the graphics, we put a lot of efforts on it. And we agree with you, the gameplay is difficult to understand. We started this game without knowing exactly what we are doing and we get stuck in this strange gameplay.
There is a pattern, but it's difficult to get even if we tried to make it easier to understand (with the bubble that show you at what iteration you are). Maybe we need to work more on it, maybe just made a bad choice at one point. If you have any advices about that, they are welcome!
It's our first game, we are 2 programmers and one graphic designer so we have a lot to learn in game design hehe.
(We changed the language selection, because you're right it was stupid like that)

I totally agree, it's a shitty way to do it. I'll look closer to find where that come from :)

Thanks again for the feedback!

Damned, I though that we'd remove this bug.. Could you try to remove the file save.osv and see if can choose the language on the screen with the flying spaceship? Did you download the windows or mac version?

Thank you for the usefull feedback :)

Hum that's strange, in the first screen you should be able to choose between french and english.

You can find it here :

(We'd be glad to ear feedbacks from you, it's still in progress so we have a lot to improve!)

Hi everybody!

(I already put a topic on the french forum but maybe english speakers friends also want to see our work. I'll try to do my best to translate the post here : http://fr.sfml-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=20109.0)

I'm not really active on SFML forum but I'm learning a lot with it all days. Mostly thanks to Laurent that answer every useful topics.

I registered on this forum because I want to show you a project we're currently working on with friends. I'm sure you guessed, it's based on SFML and hours of working.

AN OCTONAUT ODYSSEY

The first idea was to create generative environnement. We plan to create a full procedural game but because of a lack of time we choose a different way and we're glad that we did.

It's a 2D plateformer game in which you are an old amnesiac octopus. The story is classical for now, the octopus crash his spaceship on an unknown planet. He need to find his compagnons, the octobots, to repair his spaceship and leave this place.

The gameplay is mostly based on your ability to modify the ground. It's a mix of reflexion, agility and exploration that allows you to move forward in the game. It's a pacifist game where you never kill anybody and only a fall could lead you to death.

It's graphically colorful and psychedelic, between cute and less cute.

We started this game as a school project and it's a first experience in game creation for everyone. Some of us even learn C++ creating it. We had so much pleasure creating it that we didn't succeed to stop! Our commercials goals are not really clear yet but we are sure that we'll finish the game at least. We want that people can play it when it'll be done and polish.

This is our video to show you how it looks like :

We hope that we'll have a short demo in few months.
