I changed that and also tried LoadFromPixels() function, but it does not work. Or it crashes or it gives a very weird image.

What is the multiplatform-way to include files into the exe and later on call them in the program?

you are using the function LoadFromFile(), right?

so if it says LoadFromFile("b1.jpg"), that means that the image b1 is in the same folder as your .exe (the game binary).

lets say your exe is in the folder 'program', than if the function says LoadFromFile("images/1.jpg"), that means the image must be in 'program/images/' folder.

Sorry, for the bad joke. You probably have an ati videocard and are using version 1.6. To make it work you can do two things:

- static link sfml 1.6
- use sfml 2.0

Hi,

I want to load an image from the resource files added in visual studio, but it does not work.

I have in .rc this:

FONT_NORMAL BITMAP  DISCARDABLE     "normal_1.bmp"

I have in resource.h this:

#define FONT_NORMAL       115

I have in the main.cpp this:
Code: [Select]
unsigned char Texture = FONT_NORMAL;

    sf::Image backgroundImage;
    if (!backgroundImage.LoadFromMemory(&Texture, sizeof(Texture) ) )
        return EXIT_FAILURE;

Not compile error, yet it fails to start the program with no error message.  :roll:

are you sure the image is really there? and by there I mean were your .exe is located and than in the map gameImages -> Pong

right click on your layer > add alpha layer > make selection > delete it. you will see checkerboard background -> that is transparent

also, you need to save the image as a png -> jpg or bmp does not have transparent background

I think what you mean is that the icon is as an .png or other format outside the the .exe. I prefer the icon to be "hidden" in the exe. It is not really hidden, they can always get it out, but this looks a bit more professional.

So it is now 15 frames per milisecond? That is way off the 60 FPS.... :roll:

15 FPmS -> 15000 FPS

60 FPS -> 0,06 FPmS

FPS -> divide by 1000 -> FPmS

Can I adjust the sfml code so that just for windows I can add another icon without breaking the sfml code when compiling on other operating system. Something with #Ifset windows ?

Oh, I do got myself two comments.

1) The example image and "green loop" are now hosted on my website. This website might not have the eternal life, so perhaps putting them on Github or sfml website might be better.  :)

2) Is it possible to set a 32x32 icon for the taskbar and a 16x16 for the titlebar? Now the 32x32 gets resized, this is not always wanted. For example when the 16x16 looks different as the 32x32.

Thanks for using the new icon(s). I like the looks of it. If I'm allowed to nitpicking, I think the one without the 'sfml' text looks a bit easier on the eyes. The 'sfml' text is pretty busy for a 16x16 icon. On the other hand, now it is very clear for people when they bookmark the website what it is. :)

About the wiki page, I don't have an account yet. Perhaps I should make one, looks interesting that Github.

Hehe, I got carried away a little, but just had to do it. :D

With the code below you can add an nice icon to your sfml program. It looks nice!  :P
