SuperLongName.com - a new kind of gaming hosting site.[FREE]
« on: September 29, 2013, 06:33:22 am »
Hey guys,

I know in the wake of the new SteamOS, there seems to be tons of developers rushing towards Steam, but often time the Greenlight process takes far too long and is often seen as a popularity contest. IF you are looking for a community of people to show and/or sell your game to; checkout www.SuperLongName.com and branch our your community a little more. You can blog(including game-logs), add your game and events related to the site.

The site is free to use and we are growing nicely.

Give it a shot and let's make the world a better place through gaming!

Update!

Games must go through an approval process with consulting to ensure quality all for FREE.

So a while back we surveyed over 300 gamers, with literally half of them being game dewvelopers about their behavior, philosophy and more. The results were pretty interesting.

Interesting. So it's a blog/comic/game hosting PaaS type thing? The web interface looks a bit under-developed at the moment, it could benefit from being more reactive the the size of the viewing window. On a 1080p monitor it's very vertical and there is a lot of horizontally wasted screen real-estate.

What advantages does it offer over something more established such as Desura for game distribution? Do you host game files? If so, service guarantees and back-up strategies are always useful to present to your potential client/user as well. Plus, I'm always impressed by high-level descriptions of the back-end. Is it a distributed system, or is it a centralised single server? If you plan to potentially deliver a lot of games to a lot of users, then that's a pretty complex bandwidth-intensive set-up, how will you solve that problem?

Essentially, what business and technical benefits would this service offer me over competitors?

UnitTest11 - A unit testing library in C++ written to take advantage of C++11.

All code is guilty until proven innocent, unworthy until tested, and pointless without singular and well-defined purpose.

My dearest Morley:

Your comments for closure beckoned my reply. If only I could truly satisfy all of the wants of a gamer I would be of great happiness. SuperLongName.com( name most likely to change) is still within it's BETA phase. As most industries we face competition in our field. Our competition is quite competent as well. We do have a few things that set us apart from them. For starters, to host your content and use us as a platform is completely free. For FREE games we offer revenue sharing to our developers. We also have support for Win, Mac, Linux and the GCW-Zero.

In regards to the experience gamers have it is up to our developers to determine that. For example, I'm creating a rather large RPG project; while others tend to make small quick games. In regards to the manner of how we host files; they are backedup by our server. I will say; give the site a try as your game host/platform.

If not, just look at our resources and articles.
