Xbox 360 Controller Triggers

I've seen multiple posts saying that each of the triggers share an axis, ranging from -1 to 1. However I have found that both triggers return a value of 1 making them impossible to differentiate. Am I doing this wrong or is use of both triggers in SFML impossible?
