Linux file manager..
« on: March 07, 2011, 12:42:32 am »
Hai!

A big program I am working on is a new file manager for Linux. I need ideas on what to name it....

It is going to be a very user friendly, good looking, hardware accelerated file manager. Taking some ideas from the grape project for mac.

Cheers!

"Hardware-accelerated file manager"? What does that mean? OpenGL visuals? Can be rather expensive -- either in money or battery life. ;)

Yeah, it's probably going to be mainly for desktop users who don't have to worry about battery, also I may create a laptop version if this goes well.

Wouldn't you be better suited with a GUI toolkit like GTK or Qt?

No, because then it would be like nautilus... look up "grape desktop" on google. It will be something along those lines
