IRC chat (70+ users)

WARNING:
SFML nowadays is mainly using Discord. We have connected the IRC channel to the "General" Discord channel, however you'll be missing on a lot of chats on other Discord channels. Therefore I highly recommend to use the Discord server.

Greetings!

Being an open source library, why you don't use freenode?

Because it doesn't really matter. We are on a network that we maintain ourselves, and it has been working great for years (since 2009 IIRC).

That's correct, but ask yourself if you'd instantly identify "IR chat" as "IRC", or even "internet relay chat" as "IRC". Some things are just practicable, especially when ignoring "rules".
People also say "HTTP protocol" in favor of "HTT protocol".

Is there any matrix channel? IRC seems pretty empty.

There's a
Discord server
and both IRC and Discord are connected, so while the IRC channel seems empty, you get tons of activity through the Discord-IRC bridge.

Why not use FreeNode like most open source software, Discord and the others look like they are for gamers...

There's an actual IRC server hosted and managed by the SFML Team. Discord being free and somewhat without restriction was a good addition and was asked by a lot of users on the IRC originally. While it is mainly aimed at gamers, a lot of communities are using it for much more than that.
