HTTPS support?
« on: October 08, 2014, 07:37:07 pm »
It would be awesome if this site had HTTPS support (especially for logging in). You can get one cert (for sfml-dev.org and one subdomain) for free with StartSSL. 2 more 5-year certs (for en. and fr.) can be bought for $46.40 from ssls.com.

There are other certificate authorities, but regardless of exactly which one is used, I would love to see some HTTPS support on this site. And they can be obtained for relatively cheap.

I would like to see https too since I know how easy it is to eavesdrop on a network. Although I personally don't see it as something with high priority, just something nice to have.

It may be worth to mention that CloudFlare now also offers free SSL.
I actually got https on my site today thanks to cloudflare, so I know that it can be achieved without any costs.

HTTPS support is always great (HTTPS Everywhere user here), however it's always connected with costs. The offers you listed are well cheap, but can also be questionable to some extend, e.g. StartSSL seems to sometimes require a validation with a copy of your drivers license and checks your mobile phone, etc. a lot of information you might not want to share with a random online company. ;)

I've been already talking with Tank about the possibilities and we'll certainly keep an internal discussion about that and topics surrounding it. ;)
