Development for OS X and iOS can be quite tricky because you're required to use Apple hardware to legally and smoothly run OS X. Unfortunately the SFML Team does only have Hiura, our OS X dev, who has regular access to such hardware.
For a long time this has worked just fine, however more recently the follow points have brought us to this fundraiser for a Mac mini:
- Having a 24/7 OS X build node for our continuous integration
- Providing 24/7 access to an Apple machine for the SFML Team to run tests and develop on
- Opening the possibility for the SFML Team to develop for iOS without having to possess their own Apple machine.
We're setting the goal to € 600 which allows us to buy a Mac mini with extended warranty and makes sure that after PayPal's cut there's still enough left.
Due to the amount PayPal takes, we recommend a minimum donation amount of € 5.
Updates:- We have reached our initial goal of € 600! We added a stretch goal of € 800 for which we'll buy the better Mac mini: 2.6GHz CPU instead of 1.4GHz, 8GB RAM instead of 4GB and 1TB of HDD space instead of 500GB.
