A new logo for SFML
« on: June 02, 2011, 10:57:03 am »
Hi

When SFML was born a few years ago (I don't remember how many ), I quickly "created" a logo for it, with a set of free icons found on the internet and a random font.

So I was thinking, maybe we can do better now :)

I'm not an expert at drawing logos, but I'm sure there are talented people on this forum. So if you want to give it a try, feel free to design a new logo and post it here.

There are only two conditions:
- the logo has to be under a very permissive license
- it must be compatible with the green and blue theme of the website

I have made this logo in 15 minutes.
He's very sober.

I like the current SFML logo. It is simple, but looks good and has meaningful symbols :)

And there are already some extensions that use a similar logo (e.g. SfGui or JSFML).
Zloxx II: action platformer
Thor Library: particle systems, animations, dot products, ...
SFML Game Development: first SFML book

+1. Why not just keep the old logo?

It's also an option. If most people feel like the current one is good enough, then I'll keep it.

Well I have nothing against the old logo, I like it in fact but I also like the idea of a new look for SFML 2.

I actually liked the original one

But if you insist, I made a logo

I was trying to go for a simple but bold design, and I will add icons on the ring

BTW the first one seems to look a bit too much like the SDL logo

I think logos are best left un-cluttered.

They'd all be better off without the text "Simple Fast Multimedia Library", as per original; which I still think has lots of life left in it.
{much better code}

I actually thought about it and took out the "clutter" and it ended up looking cleaner

I'm working on the icons, and I'm only halfway finished:

It even links to the website :P

I'm testing cel shading and I will brush up the logo after I'm done
