That's a lot :D

But I think we should first find a logo that looks good alone, and then find how to integrate it to the website.

You could try variants with the "lighting" effect shown here:

I really like krzat's contribution. I suppose I've associated SFML with an ellipse for a too long time :)
With new colorscheme, lighting and drop shadow:

Here some integration tests based on his logo:

With Cornstalk's font:

I like the idea of the acronym "SFML" being a part of the logo itself, I think the logo will be more identifiable that way.
While I also like the concept of a pentagon/power button, a multimedia library is something too much abstract to be easily represented by just a pictograph, and it's hard to have a distinctive visual representation.

Maybe insert the power button inside the white circle?

Cool, I'll experiment with some of the lighting ideas and other things. I've got some final projects I need to start working on, so it might take me a few days to get around to doing it. If other people want to experiment with the power symbol, you're all more than welcome to! The font I've been using is Geometry Soft Pro and the SVG for the rounded and non-rounded symbol can be found here (in addition to the other SVGs I've linked to in the past), but don't be afraid to go in a totally different direction than I've been going in.

@Haze: I think that's pretty good looking! I too think it's a good idea to incorporate "SFML" into the logo itself if it can be done well (for ease of recognition), but I've always struggled in finding ways to do that. There's a part of me that likes the elipse, and there's another part of me that wants to rip out the association people have with SFML and elipses. But I generally like it and am looking forward to what other things people come up with.

You can also use my PSD from a few posts ago, if it helps you. I'm not experienced in vector graphics, so it has a fixed (although high) resolution. Today, I unfortunately don't have the time to experiment, maybe in the weekend...

It looks good too. There's just one thing I don't like: the white circle, which doesn't fit very well, and can make people believe that the name is OSFML :P

Indeed, you're right. I've curved a power button in the white circle and it looks better IMO.

I'm trying to think of a way to use it as a loading screen as well (sorry for dropping in from nowhere)
Would be pretty nice to have a gradient flashing behind the power button..... yes I'll actually try that :P

This last idea is really good, but I think it needs some more space between the power button and SFML, 'cause it looks like OSML  ;)

I made a color gradient that spans both symbol and text. I also took a lowercase text, and changed the colors to match the website. Please be specific about what you like or not, so we can go into a certain direction :)

Variation 1: Normal

Variation 2: Contour

Variation 3: Glow

Variation 4: Glow + contour

What I like:
- the color effect

 What I don't like:
- glow
- the font (this one is a little too rounded, it reminds me Comic sans MS ;D)

I don't know if SFML should be lower case or upper case. So far, upper case looks better to me.

I don't like the glow effect but I'm not against a drop shadow, the examples of Haze look clean, especially the integration to the website.

I would choose the logo of Haze. It's not changed much, but still got a nice new version. :D

Thanks for the positive feedback. Do you have any other improvements to suggest?

- Font #1 or font #2 (rounded)?
- Should the ellipse be visible above the menu or cropped?
- Is there enough padding between the text and the inner bounds of the ellipse? (I think it's ok with font #1, but with font #2 the text is too close to the power button, cf. matkod's comment).
