SFML and Social Media
« on: February 09, 2014, 08:37:57 am »
Hi, I'd like to know if SFML has a facebook/twitter page. I think that SFML needs to be recognized by the world as a great tool in developing games and other apps. Any replies to this will be much appreciated.

Do you still think that SFML needs to have an facebook page to be recognized? ;)

Google's results are always 'personalized'; Here's the Duck Duck Go (unfiltered search engine) link:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=c%2B%2B+multimedia+library

DirectX is the first result, with a Stack Overflow answer recommending SFML and the SFML site itself coming in second and third.

I deleted all cookies and logged out of my google account, it still shows me the same results ;)
And if you search with https://www.ixquick.com/, http://www.bing.com, and http://search.yahoo.com/ SFML is always in the first results. I deleted all the cookies and logged me out off all my acccounts, so i think it's pretty hard for the search engines to show me personalized results. :)

Hehe, no. ;)

Unless you changed, IP, browser, screen resolution, installed plugins, basically anything that can be access via the browser, it's still rather easy to track you and I can assure you Google does so. And even then results are served differently based on your location, etc.

Challenge Accepted ;)

I installed a fresh Ubuntu 13.10 operating system on my second, old computer (which has a different screen resolution than my laptop (which I use normally) ), downloaded a VPN service and googled  'c++ multimedia library'  through an american proxy.
I used Mozilla Firefox without any plugins. (On my laptop I use Chrome).

And SFML is STILL under the first results! :)

An easier way I believe is to use the incognito mode in chrome. That should show unbiased results according to the internet, and it seems like it is working for me.

Yes, but It doesn't hide your IP, so google still could show you personalized results
