SFML projects / Re: Anyone want to build a 2D game with me?
« on: June 13, 2014, 06:29:48 pm »
I think I will think about it since working as a team brings some motivation you sometimes lack when you're alone on that type of projects.

Meanwhile I agree you shoud give some details about your skills and mostly past experiences.

Usually in Jams I don't really care about the ranking (since in stuff like Ludum Dare you can't actually have a very good rank), so I'll follow your mind and say I'm for it !

Edit: I don't know about the forum features but can't there be some sort of "rank" / "title" that could be given to the winner. A funny one, even related to the theme can be nice !

Sorry to intrude so lately in the discussion, but...

For me, impossible to provide an executable on the 3 major OSes, I just don't have any apple device for that.
I think Nexus talked about something that build automatically from sources, it would be nice even if I've troube to see how such a thing can be made.

I feel like the rules are pretty fine, except for the duration which could be a week imo.

As a side note : I should be able to help the team (jebbs, zsbzsb mainly) with web stuff at the end of august

Like others I couldn't finish mine. I think we should resume discussions about doing the jam over a week

I wanted to stream, but I don't know what's going on with twitch but the stream works about 10sec and then freeze. So it's not likely you'll be able to watch me live :(

Event if it's the root of an english word, it's not english itself :) I think he meant "concluding"

Feature requests / Re: Keep mouse in window
« on: March 19, 2014, 09:17:54 am »
I find the fact that you can go to your second screen perfectly fine. I use this all the time : hearthstone, Diablo, Wow, I always have my mumble+web browser on my second screen so I can click them anytime.

I guess that's where we have a divergence.

Isn't, like you said, the mouse always in the middle of the screen on a FPS anyway ? And just while playing ? (not in the menu, etc.) ? To me it's different to put the cursor back in the center in that types of games in which you haven't the choice that to lock le mouse inside the window, aka I can't get out of here even if I want to.

FPS in a small window ? No thanks...
I understand that ..sometimes.. you need to keep the mouse in the window. But there are so few cases, this is so annoying to the user that I really don't think that's a feature that should be added, ever.

I already played a lot of games where the mouse was stuc inside the window, that's the kind of game I unistall after having spent minutes to get out of it. People like freedom, don't constraint them.

Again, no one prevent you from making the game window the size of the the screen or fullscreen.

Why ?

Why do you want to force the player/user to be inside your window. There's nothing more annoying than that..
You can still do something full screen or pause the game if the player is out the window.

OSes shouldn't even allow the mouse to be forced IMHO.

General / Re: Run executable on Linux(Ubuntu)

I've to admit I never trid to double click, so I don't really know what's going on. Is the launching path wrong, I don't know :/

If you want to do a copy/past plug&play version, the best is to make a 'libs' folder in your game root directory which will contain the .so files you need, and then make a small launcher script that alter the PATH and launch the game.

Something like (to test) :

Of course make that script executable (chmod +x launcher), zip and send !
