As we are nearing the SFML 2 release, I thought I'd resurrect this thread
Good idea. SFML still needs a new logo before the 2.0 release :-\

I can try and make a possible logo myself. I may not be a seasoned artist, but I plan to be one in the future. Maybe after I finish what I am programming right now though, which may take around a week or hopefully less.
Programmer, Artist, Composer and Storyline/Script Writer of "Origin of Magic". If all goes well this could turn into a commercial project!

Finally back into the programming world!

Just want to note:

^ Looks like a PHP logo knockoff.

EDIT: Removed image embedding. The image is huge.

I was talking about the color schemes/font being similar...

O right, cool. :)

The font is Droid Sans and the colour is just a placeholder, as Laurent mentioned that he'd like to stick with the current blue and green.

Am I the only one that thinks the hovering icons (in every logo) are clutterish (and ironic with the "simple" in SFML) and detract from the overall attempt of the logo?

You can define a width in the img tag and the forum software will automatically resize the image. ;)

Well 'simple' doesn't imply content/feature less and that's what the icons are representing quite literary.
But I also get the feeling that the icons don't fully fit into all the logos. I guess it's quite hard to nicely combine them... ;)

I didn't mean "simple" as in content/feature-less, but as in clean, easy to use interface (i.e. it is simple/easy to use SFML and it makes your life/the rest of your code code simple if you use SFML). I just feel like the icons, ironically, have the opposite effect on the logo.

I agree; the random floating joysticks and keyboards look clunky. Even in the current logo.

I totally agree! I really want something different, and definitely cleaner.

I loved the one with 2 gears ( https://legacy.sfmluploads.org/cache/pics/176_sfml%20logo%20example.png without the version number and the long text) and it looks really cool animated in a splash screen. :D

No, you're not the only one. The icons add a certain 'cheap' factor to the logo in my opinion.

Seconded. That one caught my eye the most.

What do gears mean for a simple and fast multimedia library ? To me, gears are often associated to system stuff or settings.
