A new logo for SFML

Oh, I just colorized it, the honor belongs to Haikarainen 8)

I have modified the logo again a bit. I replaced the small screen with some kind of server (I think it fits better near the internet globe), and the small gear with a clock. I also added a relief to the fonts and the main gear.

The .psd file can be downloaded here. If you have good ideas, don't hesitate to modify the logo! I am not extremely skilled, e.g. shade for the big screen can be improved (that is, created at all :)). One issue is also that the L of SFML is too far on the right. It seems like I can't make the font smaller because I don't have the font.

There's something 'heavy' with the screen and the clock. I don't know exactly what. Maybe it's the bottom-left corner. Maybe it's because the clock is full unlike the gear which has an empty center making it 'lighter'. Maybe the black color of the screen.... Do you see what I mean ?

What does it looks like when the clock is in front of the screen ?

Otherwise the colors are cool.

I think it's a bit overstuffed, with too much corners and some small details like the ones on the device at the bottom right.
Keep it as simple and clean as possible. The best logos are those with 1 to 3 colors, one or two shapes, etc.

I personally like the original as it is, people easily remember the ellipse around the SFML letters. There are the devices, no one remember them but they are ok and self explanatory.

Nice! I like the clock. The servers look like giant cheap speakers tho :P

You are right, it would probably look better with fewer symbols (maybe the most important ones, like screen, headphones, keyboard/mouse).

Another option is to keep most of the symbols, but instead of overlapping them, we keep enough space, like at the old logo. It would also relativize the heaviness of the screen, if it isn't alone in the foreground.

By the way, does anyone have a good idea for a symbol representing networks? Or is the globe fine? Maybe another one? Or none at all?

To be REALLY honest i think the whole sfml-site could need some furnishing up :P Whole new concept, but still save the most vital parts of SFML's soul. Btw why dont you use the latest PSD? With the newer cogwheel(3d, less stroke).

Another idea. I think the logo is not bad, but the ellipse and floating icons seem a little out of place (I did it just to see how it fits).

The basic idea is that the "S" is simple and the "F" is fast. There is no much else to say...

Nice logo Brendon, I'm a big fan of simplicity/clean design. You achieved that nicely. The negative space gives the box a creative look. But... looking at the current logo design, I think your clean logo is too plain.  :)

Just my 'simple and fast' opinion.  8)

Brendon's logo reminds me somehow of Intel. In my opinion, the logo should contain elements that can be associated with SFML, for example the media symbols. Overstuffed is not good, but no stuff at all neither ;)

By the way, jmglez, your link is broken.

Okay, I have tried to clean up the other logo a little bit. There are still 6 symbols, but the positioning is better organized, similar to the SFML 1 logo. I use another symbol for networking, some shadows have been improved, the "SFML" text is less wide.

Variation 5 (big symbols, the version I prefer):

Variation 6 (small symbols):
