Aww, I had just finished combining some logo ideas with animals.

They're attached if anyone wants a look.  Either way, a decision sounds like a good idea and I fully support the power pentagons.

1 Dark and 2 Light in particular are nice.

Spine Tailed Swift, fastest bird at level flight

Peregrine Falcon, fastest bird in a freefall

The logo with the peregrine falcon and the sine wave together (or the linear one) is a great idea that should really be taken is consideration!
It gives the feeling of a fast library, and an animal is more appealing and singular than a simple symbol.
For sure it should be improved !  :)

Just a random logo I drew in paint, not good at image editing.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. The pinnacle of simplicity. The climax of elegance. From a guy that came out of no where. Well done Sythical. I love it.

I finished my cheetah mascot logo thingy. Don't use it, I'm just posting it because it's rough is done. I pixel drew it instead of using vectors.

Use either Sythicals, Cornstalks or Haze's + Waylorn logo.

Either of these three would make me happy. Everyone is right, we don't have time to be exploring every single idea, even if they are cool ones. We need to choose, the logos look pretty final to me. Looks like the whole mascot thing will have to wait for SFML 3 ;)

Pick a logo already! My vote is with Sythical!

I quickly created this logo in Photoshop:

Have you heard about the new Cray super computer?  It’s so fast, it executes an infinite loop in 6 seconds.

Waylorn's ideas are really neat. Love the spine tailed swift. Bonus points for picking bird species that match the trajectories.  :D

Thank you for the kind words Ricky :)

I used lower case because they seem 'cleaner'. The larger triangle was me trying to add an arrow in to the logo and I then decided to add another triangle to make a compound shape (showing shapes can be broken down into triangles). Slightly larger version without the version number:

I do like the simplicity of this idea.

I think the silhouette or a black+white version of a logo should be agreed on first, and then we can iterate on variations of colours/shininess etc. And in my opinion the shiny font logos look generally worse than the current logo (not that the current logo is THAT bad.) ;) But then again I'm a fan of the Flat UI versus bubble/shiny UI.

And finally, I drew some more pentagon variations, because I love the idea of the pentagon!  ;D Obviously they would be coloured to whatever the website theme was.

When we say "stop, it's time to decide", we start to get many new interesting contributions... nice :P

Anyway, I'll stick to the 28th april deadline, and I'll take the best looking logo at that date. So if you want one of these new ideas to be a candidate... hurry up ;)

Betwen those two, I prefer this one (for the symbol) if opinions can be given.

This look good, and triangles are easy to understand.

But maybe kerning between l and icon should be the same as between letters.

I was intrigued by the arrow idea, but I thought there should be a little more movement.

Yes you're right, not sure why I didn't adjust the spacing.

What typeface is this?

I font I used is Segoe UI.

I font I used is Segoe UI.

1) What is its license? Is it free to use for SFML?
2) Do we/Laurry care if it's not?

---

I tried integrating it:

SVG (kerning doesn't work in some programs for some reason)
PNG

As I don't have Segoe UI I used the slightly similar Open Sans.

In terms of symbols, what about a lightning bolt? It's a simple shape, it conveys "speed", and it could easily integrate with most of the letters of "SFML". I don't have the software now for a mockup, but I will throw an image in when I get a chance.

I know it's late in the game to introduce a new concept, but I figure I might as well do it before there is no more time.
