In Laurent's defense, he's had to make sure he picks a logo that EVERYONE likes. It wasn't an easy choice with so many good options.

Also, the API itself isn't changing for 2.0, so it's not like you need to wait for the official release.

You've waited this long. You can wait a little longer. :P

I think Laurent chooses a logo that he thinks fits best for SFML, not that everybody likes. ;) And nobody stops you from fetching the "2.0"-tagged source code from the repository, compiling and using it. The binaries will be exactly the same as the ones you can download next week from the website.

Btw, this is a voluntary project. I always find it a little bit misguided to put pressure on the authors for releasing the product. If you want it to go fast etc., donate an amount that's high enough to pay Laurent for ~2 years, and he might consider working full-time on SFML. :P

You said it would be released THIS month... What happened laurent?
Yes he said "it should be released", which implies some partial uncertainty. If he'd have been 100% sure, he would've said, "it will be released". Let's just wait a bit longer. :)
Besides, what's your gain by pointing this out? ::)

Have you decided on the exact variation of Cornstalks logo? Maybe a high-resolution version would be nice :)

For example, variation 9 with a light shadow might look interesting. It would look like this (but can of course be done better, I only had the png):
Zloxx II: action platformer
Thor Library: particle systems, animations, dot products, ...

I think this one is the best:

The shadow should probably not be included directly, it could be incompatible with other backgrounds or styles (it's easy to mess up an entire design by adding an element with shadow, if everything else is flat); but it can be added by people who need it, it don't think it hurts.

Great choice! I really like how this one evolved into a very polished design.

Should the logo include "simple & fast multimedia library"?

By the way, there's a problem with the chosen image, its left side seems to be slightly clipped (1 pixel).

The logo is too large... I don't get it, is "SFML" part of the logo or is it just the power button ?

It's part of the logo. Why do you say it's too large?

This looks more like a banner than a logo to me.

I think a lot of logos are designed like this (an image and the name side by side). Since they are separated, the image can be used alone when a smaller logo is needed.
